FROM CAPALABA SPORTS CLUB

Capalaba Sports Club is proud to be home to world-class talent – and a thriving junior program that’s shaping the future of the sport.

Leading the charge is Kane Nelson, the current Under 25 World Singles Champion and Australian representative, alongside his brother Jacob. Both ranked in Australia’s top 10, the Nelson brothers dedicate their Wednesday afternoons to coaching juniors, sharing their skills and passion with the next generation.

Their commitment is already bearing fruit. Two young bowlers – Keala Nukunuku (13) and Euan Ironside – have recently earned selection in the Queensland Under 18 training squad, a testament to the quality of coaching and support at Capalaba.

Annually, for the past four years, alongside our regular Wednesday afternoon coaching, we’ve had the pleasure of welcoming 50 students from Coolnwynpin State School to participate in lawn bowls as part of their sports program.

The junior program is free and open to anyone under 18, making it an accessible and welcoming pathway into the sport. And it’s not just for juniors – Capalaba Sports Club caters to all ages, from enthusiastic teens to seasoned players in their nineties. Coaching is available for new bowlers of any age, ensuring everyone feels supported and included.

With many of our members representing Queensland and District sides, Capalaba Sports Club is more than a place to play – it’s a community where champions are made and friendships flourish.

Whether you’re picking up a bowl for the first time or chasing a state title, there’s a place for you here.
