Capalaba Bulldogs’ Youth Academy teams had a wildly successful State Championships during the last school holidays, with two of their boys’ teams taking home winners’ medals.

The Doggies under 13 Boys (pictured) took out the main prize in their age group, beating a Far North Queensland representative side in the final of a competition that saw teams from all regions of the state participate.

Under-13 boys Academy coach Zak Meuli had this to say about his team’s performance.

“The boys showed a lot of character. We were undefeated in the group, and they showed amazing resilience to get all the way to the final and then get the win.”

Not to be outdone, the combined Under 15/16 boys Academy side also claimed victory in their competition, again beating Far North Queensland in the final.

Football Queensland’s Youth State Championship is an annual event for Under-13 to Under-17 FQ Academy teams across Queensland, held this year at South Pine Sports Complex in Brendale.

Capalaba president Shaun McAney was delighted with his club’s Youth Academy performances at such a prestigious event.

“It’s fantastic to see the hard work and dedication from both the coaching staff and players being rewarded with these wins,” said Shaun.

Shaun went on to explain how the club fields both boys and girls Youth Academy teams across under-13 to under-18 age groups, representing Capalaba in the Football Queensland Academy Leagues.

They also have a Junior Academy for boys and girls from Under-9 to Under-12, as well as a thriving junior community football program.

And many of those younger players now have a benchmark for success in their own club’s Youth Academy. The future looks bright for the Doggies!
