FROM THE WYNNUM MANLY SEAGULLS
As the Wynnum Manly Seagulls Club prepares to celebrate its 75th year, strong leadership across both its men’s and women’s programs will underpin the 2026 season, with Mathew Head returning to lead the HostPlus Cup side, and Darren Ferricks stepping into the role as newly appointed BMD Premiership Head Coach ahead of the upcoming season.
Now entering another year in charge, Mathew Head brings consistency, experience, and a deep understanding of the playing group. After falling short in last season’s finals series, the HostPlus squad is focused on learning from that disappointment and returning stronger, with a renewed emphasis on discipline, preparation, and high-performance standards.
Meanwhile, the club welcomes Darren Ferricks into the BMD head coaching role. Already a familiar face through his leadership of the club’s women’s academy program, he has played a key part in developing emerging pathways and nurturing local talent. His appointment signals an exciting new chapter for the women’s program as it continues to grow in strength and depth.
Both coaches are focused on building competitive, united squads that reflect the club’s pride and history. As the 75th season approaches, players, staff and supporters alike are looking forward to a memorable year on and off the field.
