The Wynnum Junior Rugby Club is celebrating a landmark achievement following an exceptional 2025 season, during which the Under 15 Bugs secured the league premiership. While the trophy is a testament to their skill, the true story lies in the squad’s extraordinary bond.
Among this premiership-winning group are no less than seven young men who recently received their 10-year caps. This prestigious club honour recognises players who have represented the blue, red and white for ten successive seasons – since they were just five years old.
As the club looks to build on this success, the search is now on for the next generation of Bugs to join the family for the 2026 season.
Registrations are officially open for all age groups. The club is placing a particular focus this year on recruitment for the Under 15 and Under 16 squads, inviting new players to step in and join the existing premiership core.
For the youngest aspiring stars, the Wynnum Rugby Walla program remains the premier starting point for four and five-year-old boys and girls. By starting their journey now, these youngsters could be the recipients of the 10-year cap in 2035.
Season 2026 Key Information
Wynnum Junior Rugby remains committed to being an inclusive, family-friendly club at Elanora Park, offering affordable fees and accepting the Queensland Government “Play On” vouchers (formerly FairPlay) to assist local families.
• Training: Sessions commence Friday night, 13 February. The club offers a “train before you play” option for those who want to build confidence before the competition begins.
• Match Days: U6 to U9: Saturday mornings, and U10 to U16: Sundays.
