FROM THE WYNNUM MANLY SEAGULLS

The Wynnum Manly Seagulls’ Cyril Connell Cup team has put together an outstanding season, going undefeated on their way to a Grand Final clash with the Norths Devils in April. It’s a milestone moment for the club, marking the first time a Cyril Connell side has reached a Grand Final.

Their campaign got off to a solid start with a hard-fought 10–4 win over the Tweed Seagulls in Round 1. From there, the team built strong momentum, recording victories over the South Logan Magpies and Norths Devils before heading into a Round 4 bye. They returned from the break in dominant style, highlighted by a convincing 58–8 win over the Redcliffe Dolphins, which secured them the minor premiership.

In the semi-final in Townsville, the Seagulls carried that form through with a 28–18 win over the Blackhawks, booking their place in the decider. Across the season, the team has shown impressive consistency, great teamwork, and resilience, setting up what was always going to be a thrilling Grand Final.

The Seagulls capped off their remarkable season in style, defeating the Norths Devils 26–12 in the Grand Final to secure the premiership. It was a fitting reward for their undefeated campaign, with the team delivering a composed and dominant performance on the biggest stage, to etch their names into club history.
