We love our sport in the Redlands, so it’s no surprise that there are 23 local teams competing in the Queensland Touch Football Junior State Cup this July. And with a record 273 teams participating, the carnival will bring an estimated 16,000 people to the Redlands each day.
Touch footy remains one of the area’s most loved sports, welcoming players from under 10s to over 70s. Its fast pace makes it exciting to watch, while the non-contact format keeps it accessible to young athletes, returning players, and even multi-generation family teams sharing the field.
Events like this strengthen community ties, keep kids active and engaged, and showcase the best of grassroots sport – all reasons they deserve strong local support.
Games run from July 9 to 11 across the Redland Showgrounds and Henry Ziegenfusz Park, offering the perfect chance for locals to see whether touch football might be their next sporting passion. And with talk of the sport potentially joining the 2032 Olympics, there’s never been a better time to get behind your local teams. See you there!
