Name: Joan Pease.

Suburb: Wynnum.

What’s your business? Member of Queensland Parliament.

Do you have any fun/interesting stories about your job? I get to meet so many amazing locals doing amazing things and get to learn new things every day, from playing bridge to building bridges.

What’s your favourite local dine-in and take-away? Too hard to pick! I visit and enjoy the many offerings we have in the bayside. There’s something to suit everyone, from take-away to fine dining – it’s all available here!

Best local activity? Walking along the waterfront and meeting locals.

What’s the last book you read? Miss Maggie of Manly, of course!

What’s the last tv show or movie you watched? The Promise, a French crime drama.

Is there anything you’d like to see happen in the local area? It’s always sensational to see locals supporting locals. Go local to grow local – love to see more of it!

Is there a local business/community group/club you’d like to give a shout-out to? How can I choose one? So many people in the electorate of Lytton are involved in its communal life. We are justifiably proud of our mighty Wynnum Manly Seagulls, the Bugs, Wynnum Fringe, our hardworking environmental groups, the vast number of community and not-for-profit organisations that demonstrate the commitment of Lytton residents to build a better community, and the First Nations groups that serve the proud Quandamooka residents. I guess my answer is all of them!

Name: Jo Thomas.

Suburb: Wakerley.

What’s your business? Music Studio.

Do you have any fun/interesting stories about your job? I run a busy private music studio teaching a variety of musical instruments including piano and violin. I have a proud legacy that several of my former students are now successful high school music teachers in our local area.

What’s your favourite local dine-in and take-away? Our favourite dine-in restaurant is the Moreton Bay Trailer Boat Club, and take-away would be Wynnum Pizza.

Best local activity? Fishing and kayaking on Tingalpa Creek and the bay.

What’s the last book you read? I haven’t got time to read books these days but I am currently playing a beautiful piano piece called a Vivaldi Variation by Florian Christi – it’s been an inspiration for me to compose more myself.

What’s the last tv show or movie you watched? The last movie series was Mare of Easttown and the last TV show was Butterbean Café with my little granddaughter.

Is there anything you’d like to see happen in the local area? I would like to see Wynnum community halls become that again – rules and regulations, impersonal service and hire rates are making it impossible to stage my annual concerts.

Is there a local business/community group/club you’d like to give a shout-out to? Wynnum Music, a local family community-minded friendly business.
