Students and teachers celebrated the diverse cultures at Brisbane Bayside State College with an afternoon filled with activities, visual art, rock climbing, cultural dance, performances and food. It’s all part of the school’s annual Diversity Day event.

Student Council – in collaboration with teachers – planned, led, and ran the afternoon. The school hosted TRUE, Headspace, Leona Morete (the school’s artist in residence), Hazel from the Queensland Police Pipes and Drums, Black Canvas Barber Shop, Tai Pumanawa, Samoan Dancing, Duriban Gunjiyl (our Indigenous dance troupe), and Queensland Police Liaison Officers Aleni Ta’alolo and Tom Govenor.

“It was so heartening to see our community together smiling, dancing, climbing, singing, drawing and making together to celebrate each other,” said Brisbane Bayside State College’s
Mrs Claire Stanic. “Thanks everyone see you next year!”
