Be social this year at the Waterloo Bay Leisure Centre - The Community Leader and Real Estate New and Views

The Waterloo Bay Leisure Centre, at 241 Tingal Road, Wynnum, reopens on Monday, January 9, 2023.

This fantastic community hub offers a range of social activities and gatherings, including exercise classes, concerts, markets, venue hire and much more.

ACTIVITIES include needlecraft, knitting, quilting, parchment, leatherwork, painting and art, table tennis, and indoor bowls. There is a library on site with many books for enthusiastic readers.

VENUE HIRE is available for special celebrations, functions and gatherings. The auditorium caters for large groups of up to 230 people. The Shire Clerks Cottage is available for wedding ceremonies and offers a picturesque setting for photographs.

CONCERTS are held on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month and showcase a variety of entertainers. Concerts commence in February 2023, so save the dates of February 14 and 28. Doors open at 9.30am for morning tea, and the show starts at 10.15am. A two-course lunch is served after the concert. Bookings are essential by phoning 3396 9488.

HIGH TEA is offered on Wednesday mornings for groups of 10 or more. Bookings are essential.

CANTEEN is open to purchase refreshments, tea, coffee, scones and baked goods. Catering is available on request.

MARKETS are held throughout the year on the grounds of the Shire Clerks Cottage. The first market for 2023 is Saturday, March 18. Over 70 stalls will showcase the goods of many talented local artists and craftspeople. Devonshire teas are served on the verandah of the cottage on market days.

NEW VOLUNTEERS are welcome to join the incredible team that keeps the centre operating. The centre is run entirely by volunteers. Some areas we welcome new volunteers are front of office, IT and website support, canteen, function set up, market set up, serving of meals, and building and gardening maintenance.

Please contact the centre; one of the volunteers will be happy to help with details of all activities offered. We welcome new members and encourage everyone to take advantage of the many activities offered and enjoy the friendship of fellow patrons.

We look forward to the community’s continued support in attending the centre, and we wish everyone a Happy New Year ahead.
