FROM MANLY MARINA COVE MOTEL

Manly Marina Cove Motel recently had the pleasure of hosting the Australian Paralympic Cycle Team prior to their Tokyo Olympic trip.

To witness the dedication and determination of the athletes, the logistics and support required from their support crew, and the comradeship of the entire team was inspiring.

The team spent three weeks living and training in the Wynnum/Manly area. We’d like to thank the many local businesses who supported them, with a particular mention to the owners and staff at Lido Italia, Thai Boat and SeaVibes who catered for their specialist dietary requirements.

To be able to watch and cheer on these athletes as they competed on the world stage was fantastic. The team went on to win four gold, four silver and five bronze medals.

For the first time, the Paralympics not only received the same media coverage as the Olympics, but athletes were recognised for their achievements in the form of a financial bonus from the federal government.

To help current and future Paralympians, during the games you could purchase a virtual seat – 94,443 seats were purchased filling over two Olympic stadiums! If you would like to assist visit

The Australian Paralympic Cycle Team is now back in Australia, completing their mandatory two-week quarantine.

The Manly Marina Cove Motel has previously hosted the Scottish and Welsh cycling teams that competed at the 2018 Commonwealth Games, and the team looks forward to welcoming more athletes to Brisbane’s bayside in the future.
