The bayside’s premier fundraising event, Celebrate for a Cause (CFC), is back this October with an exciting Santorini Summer theme that will light up Manly harbour.
Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron will be transformed
with a styled rigging lawn glowing with festoon lights, roaming entrainment, the vibrant Sorrentino Property Santorini Big Band, a Greek-inspired delicious food
market and stunning cocktails.
CFC founders Tracey Lucock and Kara Vallins predict the 2022 event could raise over $100,000 for bayside charity, with up to 1000 guests expected to attend. Funds will go to charity The Forgotten Women, a unique grassroots housing initiative for homeless women over 55.
“The project’s mission is to put a roof over the heads of as many of these vulnerable women as possible,” explained Kara.
“Through the acquisition of suitable properties, The Forgotten Women project will ensure these women have access to secure, safe and affordable housing options that enable them to age in place.”
In addition to The Forgotten Women, who will receive 80% of funds raised via the event, the remainder of the proceeds will be directed to a new local community foundation, the Bayside Community Fund (BCF).
The BCF, launched earlier this year, aims to generate funds from bequests and donations, which are then invested and managed by the Queensland Investment Corporation and governed by the Queensland Community Foundation. Dividends will be distributed back into the bayside community in perpetuity by way of grants.
“Our event is about celebrating community and friendships with a purpose. Our ever-growing team of volunteers are committed to our simple shared vision, which makes the event and its surrounding program such a success,” said Tracey.
