Locals supporting locals: can you help Wynnum Community Place? - The Community Leader and Real Estate New and Views

Dental on Cambridge is a local family-owned practice on Cambridge Parade in Manly that is always looking for ways to support our local community.

The practice is often approached for donations by larger organisations across Brisbane but prefers to focus fundraising efforts on the local bayside community. In previous years, Dental on Cambridge partnered with BABI Youth and Family Service in Wynnum to provide toiletry packs and Silky Oaks for back-to-school supplies.

This year, the practice will support Wynnum Community Place, a volunteer-led service helping those in the local community who need a little extra support. Wynnum Community Place relies heavily on donations to keep its service going. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, they offer free food, access to washing facilities and clothing donations.

Wynnum Community Place has identified a dire need for new boys’ clothing sizes 2 to 5 years, children’s soap, sunscreen, wipes and nappies, and general adult toiletries. Christmas will also be a focus, but these essential items are now needed in our community.

Dental on Cambridge will be making donations (as well as collecting) of the above supplies during November and December at the Manly practice. While any donation will be warmly accepted, the practice asks the community to purchase an additional product they would typically purchase for their own family or relatives in these categories. It could mean purchasing an extra kid’s t-shirt or shorts while buying new clothes for your children, nieces, nephews and grandkids, another packet of wipes or nappies in your grocery shop, or an extra body wash or deodorant.

As donations come in, the Dental on Cambridge team will deliver these to Wynnum Community Place. Community members are welcome to include a personal note with their donations to be passed on to recipients.

Donations can be made at Dental on Cambridge 4/99 Cambridge Parade, Manly from Monday to Thursday 8.30am to 6.00pm, and Fridays 8.30am to 5.00pm.
