A Redlands athlete has made a clean sweep of events in her first National Gymnastics Championships appearance.

Eleven-year-old Ella Brushe was one of four members of Redland City Gymsports in the Queensland team who recently competed in the week-long event at the Carrara Indoor Stadium.

RCG Head Coach Melanie Tonks said, “Ella had amazing success at her first National competition. She won gold in Level 5 Trampoline, Double Mini Trampoline and Synchronised Trampoline. None of the long-time coaches from all over Australia can remember when this last happened”.

Charlotte Johnstone, the club’s 19-year-old Australian Representative, won Junior Under 22 Double Mini and level 7 Tumbling. She placed 6th in Senior Trampoline and was a member of the winning Double Mini Queensland team.

Jonah Masri, 10, also at his first Nationals, placed second In Youth Under 13 Double Mini Trampoline and 9th in Level 5 Trampoline.

Thirteen-year-old Bella Malcolm continues to move up the placings every time she competes at the Nationals. This is her third time, and she made finals in both her events, Level 6 Double Mini and Tumbling.

The athletes’ coaches, Melanie, Lesley Daly and Joe Finley, are extremely proud of their young athletes and now know that the hard work from both sides was worth it.

Redland City Gymsports trampolinists are now focusing on their next competitive event, the South Queensland Interclub Challenge to be held at Redcliffe. With over 50 entrants, the club hopes for more success at introductory levels.
