From Thursday to Sunday, Pippy Fish Café is a Thorneside restaurant serving enticing seafood dishes and tasty takeaways.

But early in the week, it’s a welcoming community hub, where young adults with disabilities can learn and practice their cooking skills in a commercial kitchen.

Through its links to bayside disability service provider, Blue Tongue Adventure, Pippy supports participants by offering the use of its kitchen and dining space for their cooking workshops. The “Blue Tongue Crew” plans and prepares a different meal each week, to brush up on meal planning, preparation, cooking skills, kitchen safety and hygiene, and nutrition.

Pippy Fish Café’s roots in the local community run deep, with a commitment to sustainability and to supporting small, independent suppliers. The restaurant only stocks fresh Queensland seafood where possible, all hand-caught, and based on what is in season and plentiful.

And its doors, and arms, are open for whatever the community needs – Pippy is available as a gathering place for an afternoon drink and a bite, a cosy romantic dinner or celebration, a business lunch, your catered event, or simply a seaside fish and chip picnic across the road at Beth Boyd Park with the family.

Pippy Fish Café is open from 11:30 am for lunch and dinner, Thursday to Sunday, at 2/100 Mooroondu Road Thorneside. Find out more at pippyfishcafe.com.au.
