Saturday 27 August saw 24 octogenarians line up to participate in the Wynnum parkrun, with three over 90-years-of-age! They were inspirational to everyone out on the course, with one participant aged over 90 completing 5km with her mobility walker.

This was the second octogenarian event for Wynnum. We hope the concept will continue to grow in numbers and that every capital city across Australia jumps on board in 2023. It is a great way to celebrate that you are never too old to walk, run, roll, or volunteer with parkrun.

The benefits of being involved in parkrun are broad – including connection with others and being active and outdoors. There are gains for your physical and mental health.

Parkrun is a weekly free timed event held every Saturday morning at 7am. In the Wynnum Manly area, it starts at the wading pool in Wynnum, or at Lota opposite Barts. For more information and to register, go to parkrun.com or reach out to your local parkrun event organisers through the local Facebook pages.
