FROM THE WYNNUM MANLY & DISTRICTS MEN’S SHED

Street Libraries are an enduring feature of the bayside. Book readers are increasingly using street libraries near their homes to share books with their neighbours.

The Wynnum Manly and Districts Men’s Shed (WMDMS) has supported the growth of street libraries by constructing them for willing residents. These libraries can be seen around the bayside, and one outside the Men’s Shed has a steady stream of locals sharing their books.

Everyone can extend the life of their books rather than dumping them, and in addition, know that they are helping to build a sharing community.

Libraries are built by Men’s Shed members, often using recycled materials.

President David Westlake says Men’s Shed is always looking for ways to support the community.
