Over the last 38 years, many local children have benefited from the guidance and care of local Family Day Care provider Marie.

In 1983, when her oldest children were aged four and two, Marie launched her Family Day Care business, opening her home and her heart to families who would soon be considered part of her extended family.

In 1988 Marie’s third child was born into her thriving business. Marie continued to offer this service as a Family Day Care educator with Bayside FDC for 17 years before transferring these skills to the next generation of educators, families, and children for 21 years with Wynnum Family Day Care as a valued Coordination Unit team member.

As 2021 wraps up, so does Marie’s family day care career, and she reflects on the past 38 years with fondness.

“It has been such a pleasure and an honour working with educators, getting to know them on such a personal and professional level, sharing in births, deaths and marriages,” said Marie.

“The families I have had the pleasure to meet have been such a joyous part of my work, supporting them to leave their babies in the trusting hands of our wonderful educators.

“I shall be very sad to say goodbye to my ‘daytime sisters’, the amazing, professional, strong, and opinionated women I work alongside of each day. Thank you for the laughter, tears, and joys of the last 21 years at Wynnum Family Day Care.”

Thank you Marie, and happy retirement.
