FROM THE FUN FU FESTIVAL ORGANISERS

George Clayton Park was transformed on the first Saturday of March as the second annual Fun Fu Festival came to life. Marking a significant celebration of the Chinese New Year of the Dragon, local Amay Small, a dedicated QUT business student, founded this family fun day.

The Fun-Fu Festival showcased a rich tapestry of Chinese traditional culture. From the energetic lion dances and kung fu demonstrations to the intricate art of calligraphy, painting, and a variety of food, the Fun Fu Festival was a bridge connecting the local community to the profound traditions of the Chinese people.

The festival was made possible through the robust support and sponsorship from the Brisbane City Council, the Chinese Consulate in Brisbane, The Waterloo Bay Hotel, Federal Member for Bonner, Ross Vasta MP, and a host of local businesses and individuals. Special thanks to Bayside Language School-Miao Miao East Branch, the Association of Chinese Communities in Australia, Business Investment Advisory Group, Lee and Associate Accounting, and many more for their generous contributions.

The success of the Fortune Raffle, with all proceeds going directly to support the Bayside Community Fund, highlighted our community’s charitable spirit.

The Fun Fu Festival provided a joyous celebration of the Chinese Lunar New Year and deepened the local understanding of Chinese traditional culture and cuisine. The community is already buzzing with anticipation for next year – The Year of the Snake!

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Amay Small and the political and business entities for their tireless efforts in organising this culturally enriching family fun day. Events like these knit our community closer and celebrate the diversity that enriches us all.
