The Wynnum Manly & Districts Men’s Shed held a belated celebration on the 27th October (belated due to Covid restrictions) for its 10th birthday. Over 100 people attended, and the surprise of the day were the Life Memberships awarded to Ron Haslet, Barry Mair, David Westlake and Wayne Holmes – the remaining four men who started the Men’s Shed in Wynnum. They were blown away!

In other recent news, the Men’s Shed held a sausage sizzle for the Mater Foundation’s project, Catherine’s House. The event raised $1000, and this money will go towards the refurbishment of the old convent, a building to be specifically used for mums who suffer from Post Natal Depression and think about suicide.

At the moment there are only four beds in the public hospitals in Queensland for people suffering this illness. Our Men’s Shed will also be supporting this organisation next year. We are very proud to have been able to support worthy organisations over the years. We also donate $1000 annually to the Black Dog Foundation and $500 to the Mater Little Miracles.
