Wynnum Croquet Club has welcomed several new members over the past couple of months and as Club Captain Deirdre Giles said, “This is a fantastic result and we warmly welcome all our new members and hope that you have a long and enjoyable association with the club”.

When asked why they had decided to take up croquet one member summed it up beautifully: “I was ready for a new activity that would bring me into a social group and give me a challenging exercise that would not put my body under stress – Wynnum CC fitted the bill.”

Responses from other new members included:

“A friend suggested I try and I thoroughly enjoy it. Club members are so welcoming and friendly.”

“Lovely to try and like a local game that is easier on my body.”

“Just a wonderful place to learn croquet and it is so sociable.”

“I played croquet in Sydney for 10 years; so, when I moved to Brisbane my first activity was to find and join the local croquet club.”

“Over 10 years ago, we watched a sister win a competition at Port Macquarie, so we had a try and we were IN!”

“For years a friend encouraged us to come and play croquet. When we finally did, we loved it and we have met many new friends. It is such a welcoming, friendly club.”
