FROM STORY DOGS

Story Dogs would like to thank Margaret Vote, principal of Raine & Horne Wynnum Manly, for her continuing sponsorship for another 12 months of Gizmo, a Story Dog who volunteers with his owner Fran at Guardian Angels’ school at Wynnum each week.

Story Dogs presented Margaret with a Story Dogs plaque, expressing their gratitude for her continuing sponsorship to 2024.

“Story Dogs is all about a special connection between a child and man’s best friend, a truly safe place where your child can find the courage to read without fear of judgement,” says Margaret.

Gizmo and Fran have been visiting Guardian Angels’ primary school at Wynnum for over two years and enjoy seeing six students each week. Gizmo sits quietly while each student reads their favourite story to him.

To see their personal growth and confidence at the end of the school year is rewarding for everyone, and students look forward to seeing Gizmo each week. Their big smiles tell the story. Knowing that Gizmo has such a huge impact on their future makes it all worthwhile.

To be a Story Dog, you must pass an accreditation test by Story Dogs’ certified dog team assessors, have annual vet checks and vaccinations, have council registration, and be clean and groomed before going to a school.
