What are you doing on Sunday, March 10th, at 7:00am? Why don’t you join Australia’s largest International Women’s Day celebration and support women with breast cancer in the Redlands area?
The Mater Chicks in Pink 2024 Redlands Fun Run will start and end at the Cleveland Point Lighthouse, incorporating a 3km and 5km walk/run to raise awareness and funds supporting women with breast cancer.
Jo Kesur, local mum and secretary of the Redlands Volunteer Branch of Cancer Council Qld, has had her own personal journey with breast cancer and kicked the Redlands event off in 2022. Jo’s diagnosis in 2019 revealed an invasive carcinoma, a hormone-based subtype of breast cancer. Having undergone surgery, Jo now undergoes monthly hormone blocker injections at Mater Private Hospital Redland as a precautionary measure to minimise the risk of cancer recurrence.
Each year, the Redlands Fun Run event has grown. It welcomes families, friends, sporting enthusiasts, fur babies and supporters to join the movement.
Avoid the city crowds and meet at the Cleveland Point Lighthouse in your pink gear and get ready to walk or run – there is a course to suit all fitness levels. The local Redlands Volunteer Branch of Cancer Council Qld will be hosting a BBQ breakfast and will offer sweet treats and pink merchandise for sale. You can also satisfy your caffeine cravings and indulge in a coffee.
In the week of March 10th, the Cleveland Point Lighthouse will be illuminated in pink as a tribute to the brave women who are courageously battling breast cancer. This symbolic gesture holds particular significance in the hearts of the Redlands community, where the impact of breast cancer has touched the lives of numerous families.
Join the sea of pink and help raise more than $1.75M to support women with breast cancer. Funds will be invested in personalised, practical support services, equipment and potentially life-saving breast cancer research at Mater Health.
