Work is underway to revitalise Manly Harbour Village, which is one of 10 suburban strip upgrades to be delivered as part of Brisbane City Council’s $10.5 million Village Precinct Projects.
Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner said the $890,000 restoration would boost the seaside precinct, which was renowned for its charm and vibrant entertainment, dining and retail offerings.
“Suburban shopping precincts like Manly Harbour Village are the beating hearts of neighbourhoods and places where people can connect with their community and gain a sense of community pride and ownership,” Cr Schrinner said.
“As part of this Village Precinct Project transformation, we’re making them more attractive places to shop, dine and relax in with improvements including new street furniture, lush greenery and art installations.
“These upgrades are more than just a facelift; they’re about supporting businesses through COVID-19 by increasing foot traffic and luring in new visitors to an area, with retailers telling us they’ve boosted business.”
Construction on the Manly Harbour Village Precinct Project is underway and is expected to be complete by the end of 2021.
