CONTRIBUTED BY JANET SARQUIS, BCF COMMITTEE MEMBER
The Bayside Community Fund (BCF) recently held its annual Pups in the Park event at Elanora Park, Wynnum. The day included canine displays and demonstrations, representations from dog breed clubs, information sessions, raffles, and competitions. There was also a range of stalls offering canine-related products and plenty of food options.
The weather was wonderful, and the event attracted lots of families and canines. Overall, it was a great day out, with funds raised channelled to the Animal Welfare League QLD and the BCF.
Next on the calendar is the Bayside Business and Community Awards 2024. Last year was the Bayside Community Fund’s inaugural awards event. It was extremely well supported by the community, with the event being sold out.
The BCF is holding the 2024 awards night on Thursday, November 7, at the Wynnum Manly Leagues Club.
We will again be presenting awards that recognise the achievements of various businesses in the bayside area across a range of categories, in addition to awards for community service.
Nominations will open in September, so look for the posters and flyers advertising the event – and save the date for November 7, 2024.
ABOUT THE BAYSIDE COMMUNITY FUND
The fund’s primary objective is to build a grants program to benefit not-for-profit organisations in the bayside area. The Bayside Community Fund is building a pool of funds that will generate sufficient earnings to support and grow the grants program. From humble beginnings, the BCF has been able to distribute one grant in 2023 and two larger grants this year. The fund’s committee is made up of volunteers who live locally and are working to give back to the community.
