Celebrate for a Cause – Manly (CFC), a 100% volunteer-run bayside event, returns for its seventh year with a Regatta on the Riviera theme at the Royal Qld Yacht Squadron (RQYS) on Saturday October 26.
The event will add to the $256,000 already raised for local charities in previous years, including Rosies, BABI Youth Services, The Forgotten Women and the Bayside Community Fund.
This year’s major charity partner is Challenge DV.
“Funding will be used to run a grassroots program for management and players at bayside sporting organisations to provide advice, training and support,” said Linda Smith, General Manager of Challenge DV. “The program will assist clubs to foster safe and respectful relationships across our community and educate management and players on where and how to source support.”
Linda said interest has been overwhelming with Wynnum Seagulls, Wynnum Lady Bugs Netball, Wynnum Rugby and Bayside United Soccer all committed to the program at the recent launch event. “We still have capacity for four other clubs and would love to hear from any other bayside sporting organisations wanting to access the free support program.”
This year’s minor charity partners are the Bayside Community Fund and Share the Kindness.
Regatta on the Riviera will be staged on the rigging lawn at RQYS, where guests will enjoy entertainment featuring a live band and roaming performers, a glass of champagne or a cocktail on arrival, grazing tables, croquet and lawn games, a champagne wall and Captain Caviar experience, raffles, auctions and more.
