Quota Wynnum Manly is a longstanding group of women who donate their time hosting monthly events to support local charities, and the Hear and Say Centre is one of those charities.

Quota Wynnum Manly has supported the Hear and Say Centre since its inception in 1992. The local ladies do this by hosting an annual charity auction in Wynnum in August of each year. This is their primary fundraising event for the year, and they continue this tradition with the help of local traders donating gifts and prizes to be used as auction items and raffle prizes.

Members raised a mammoth $15,000 for the Hear and Say Centre this year. Yvonne Spanner, the club’s president, is pictured presenting the cheque.

The time the ladies put into hosting these events is commendable. The camaraderie of Quota Wynnum Manly drives the ladies’ hard work throughout the year.

In addition to the auction, Quota ladies raise funds for many charities such as Rosies, Head and Neck Cancer Australia, The Carers Foundation, and Orange Sky Laundry. They support one of the local schools by making sandwiches each fortnight as well as handing out fruit at the annual Rotary Family Fun Day and also hand out damper and tea/coffee at the Australia Day celebrations.

The hardworking ladies also take part in the gift wrapping each year at Wynnum Plaza for Mother’s Day, Father’s Day and Christmas in return for a gold coin donation, which they donate to their nominated charities. The ladies meet monthly to organise events and once a month for a social dinner.
