If you’ve tagged 2025 as the year you’d like to write your story, Wynnum Manly Arts Council and author Anna Cahill have a workshop to help you do just that.
During February and March, Anna will guide students through hands-on sessions designed to improve writing skills.
About Anna
Lota resident Anna Cahill has a passion for words. A versatile writer and author, Anna has enjoyed a varied career in newspapers, radio, photojournalism, corporate communications, public relations, editing and writing tuition.
In addition to a host of news articles and features, Anna’s published works include:
Colours of a Life: The life and times of Douglas MacDiarmid, the illustrated biography of an expatriate painter (2018) – 470 pages, hard cover, full-colour, fully indexed. There are copies in Brisbane City Council library collections.
Letters to Lilburn – Douglas MacDiarmid’s conversations from the heart (November 2022), a limited-edition collection of letter extracts and poems to celebrate a centenary of artistic legacy and an extraordinary creative bond.
Wonky (2015), as volunteer mentor and editor to enable a wheelchair-bound Victoria Point woman to write and publish her personal view of disability.
Fruit Fly Fighters: Eradication of the Papa Fruit Fly (2002), a history and crisis-management guide to one of the world’s most invasive exotic pests. Co-authored with the project’s chief scientist, published by CSIRO.
The Workshop Sessions
Hosted by Wynnum Manly Arts Council, the workshops will take place on February 8, 15 and 22, and March 8, 15 and 29 at the Wynnum Community Centre, Florence Street, Wynnum.
Cost: $65 for members, $70 non-members (per session), which includes
