Earlier this year, the Belgravia Foundation and Cleveland Aquatic Centre were successful in their joint application for the Redlands Coast Seniors Month Grant Program to help create opportunities for older adults to embrace a healthy lifestyle and connect with the community. In October 2024, the Active and Healthy Seniors Celebration came to fruition.

The event started with a mega aqua class and a bath cap competition that allowed older adults to participate in a free healthy activity that promotes physical fitness through a welcoming, safe, social and fun experience. Free fitness memberships and passes were given to prize winners.

After the aqua class, breakfast was served, and the participants enjoyed heart-healthy bites, socialised, and engaged with the community.

The Sing Sing Sing Choir performance closed the event. Sing Sing Sing is a choir for people living with dementia and their carers. Choir members shared their love of music and singing with the wider community, allowing the audience to immerse themselves in their performance by singing along to music from the 1920s to the 2020s.

Belgravia Foundation and Cleveland Aquatic Centre want to thank and acknowledge Redland City Council for providing funding to support the health and wellbeing festival as part of the Seniors Week celebrations. The festival welcomed over 150 older adults throughout the event, connecting them with healthy and social activities on the day and encouraging ongoing participation through local community groups.
