FROM THE WATERLOO BAY LEISURE CENTRE
We would like to acknowledge the wonderful contribution Iris Brewer made to The Waterloo Bay Leisure Centre and The Shire Clerk’s Cottage.
Iris was a co-founder and life member of The Waterloo Bay Leisure Centre and was the fundraising chairwoman for its establishment in the 1970s.
Iris made a massive contribution to the centre over many years, notably as chairperson, spearheading the restoration of The Shire Clerk’s Cottage on the grounds of the centre.
Many would remember Iris as “The Pink Lady” who would greet guests to The Shire Clerk’s Cottage on market days. Iris loved to chat with guests about the history of the cottage and the centre. She also made the strawberry jam, which was used for the Devonshire Teas served on the cottage’s verandah.
Iris had a great passion for The Waterloo Bay Leisure Centre and its many activities; it is a great meeting place for all members of the community to come along and feel welcome.
Iris will be very fondly remembered and greatly missed.
