FROM YMCA, WYNNUM COMMUNITY HUB
In May, YMCA Wynnum Community Hub welcomed community members and local services to a special lunch to celebrate Neighbourhood Centre Week. With the theme “Stronger Together”, the lunch was a wonderful opportunity to strengthen the connections between local services, government agencies and community members and recognise the importance of working together to build a healthy, connected, thriving community.
As one of more than 120 Neighbourhood Centres in Queensland, the YMCA Hub offers a range of free weekly activities, including a sewing group, games, chair yoga, meditation and art therapy. Community members can access assistance with forms, personal and financial counselling, material assistance for people doing it tough and a weekly Justice of the Peace service.
Outside of these weekly activities, the Hub offers a welcoming space for people of all ages and backgrounds to drop in for a chat, connect and find support over a cup of tea or coffee and a biscuit.
Like all community centres, the YMCA Hub offers activities and services based on the needs and interests of the local area and welcomes ideas for new activities and events.
The YMCA Wynnum Community Hub is located in the Wynnum Community Centre, 105 Florence Street, Wynnum, and is open Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
