More than 350 members of the bayside community came together at the Wynnum Manly Leagues Club to celebrate the winners of the Bayside Community Awards. With over 9,000 votes received, all categories were hotly contested, and as you’ll see from the photos on these pages, winners are grinners!

BEST INDUSTRIAL BUSINESS (INCLUDES LOGISTICS, BOAT BUILDING, WAREHOUSING) WINNER: EXCEL REMOVALS Located in Manly, Excel Removals is a furniture transport and relocation business started by Sam Atkins who was born and raised in the Bayside area.

BEST E-COMMERCE BUSINESS WINNER: eNURSE Based in Tingalpa, eNurse Australia was founded by an Aussie nurse in 2010, and operates a website that caters to the professional and personal needs of nurses and midwives. eNurse sells products such as nurses’ scrubs, nurses’ equipment, stethoscopes, nurses’ kits and lots of accessories and much, much more.

PET SERVICES BUSINESS (INCLUDES GROOMERS, PET STORES, VETS) WINNER: WYNNUM MANLY VETERINARY HOSPITAL Wynnum Manly Veterinary Hospital is located at 232 Bay Terrace, Wynnum. Veterinarians Dr Nicole Thomas, Dr Charlotte Brace, Dr Steven Conwell, Dr Claire Kitson and their team of veterinary nurses, technicians and administration staff provide an outstanding service to local pets and their owners.

OUTSTANDING COMMUNITY SERVICE – INDIVIDUAL WINNER: JACQUI CARTER-O’LEARY Jacqui Carter-O’Leary is a long-standing Police Liaison Officer who has worked within the Wynnum community for 25 years. Police Liaison Officers are employed by the Queensland Police Service to establish and maintain a positive rapport between culturally specific communities and the QPS.

BEST TRADE BUSINESS (INCLUDES PLUMBERS, BUILDERS, ELECTRICIANS) WINNER: CLAY’S CLEANING SERVICE Clay Lewis started his business Clay’s Cleaning Services in 2018, a one-of-a-kind enterprise in the Bayside area. His business gained acclaim for its top-notch bin cleaning and expanded to offer pressure-washing services throughout greater Brisbane.

OUTSTANDING COMMUNITY SERVICE ORGANISATION WINNER: SIT N CHAT Clair Molyneux and Craig Moore launched Sit N Chat in August 2022 as a not-for-profit organisation supported by volunteers giving freely of their time to sit and chat with people with a view to improving mental health through conversation.

BEAUTY, HEALTH, WELLBEING & FITNESS BUSINESS (INCLUDES BEAUTY & HAIRDRESSING, CARE AGENCIES, ADJUNCT HEALTH SERVICES) WINNER: STUDIO YELLOW Studio Yellow is operated by Natalie Lynch at Manly West. Natalie’s philosophy is that making art is a great way to maintain good mental health and connect with the community.

OUTSTANDING CUSTOMER SERVICE AWARD WINNER: MALI HANNUN, CEDAR & PINE Far more than your average bar, Cedar & Pine is like Brisbane’s very own Cheers bar, where everyone knows your name, including the owner Mali Hannun. Mali is a local icon, renowned for her incredible personality, spirit, warmth and sense of humour and is beloved by her patrons and the Wynnum community.

BUSINESS OF THE YEAR WINNER: CEDAR & PINE Cedar & Pine is located at 139 Bay Terrace, Wynnum and is owned by Mali Hannun. The bar offers a selection of craft beer, cocktails and wines, and regularly showcases live music, creating a lively and entertaining atmosphere for guests. With its cool and laid-back atmosphere, outdoor seating area, and delicious food, Cedar & Pine is a much-loved local favourite.
