Jean and Ellen, residents at E.M. Tooth Residential Aged Care home in Manly, recently celebrated an incredible milestone with their family and friends. Born two weeks apart, Jean and Ellen celebrated their 105th birthdays together.
The team at E.M. Tooth hosted a high tea in their honour, with Jean and Ellen in high spirits, sipping champagne, enjoying a tasty morning tea, and, of course, having a delicious piece of cake. It was a heart-warming celebration that highlighted their remarkable age and the vibrancy they continue to bring to their community.
When asked about the secrets to their healthy and long lives, Jean, a former landscape artist, spoke about her active lifestyle. “I stayed mentally active through teaching. I had a very good upbringing; my parents gave me good food and ensured I exercised.”
She added, “All this added up to me being a healthy person. I was lucky enough to have the energy and the will.
“We must all remember that life is for the living!” she shared with enthusiasm.”
Ellen offered her wisdom for longevity. “You’ve got to get out and have a good time,” she said with a smile lighting up her face.
