What’s something you can’t buy, but once you have it, you’re considered rich? The answer is friendship. Human connections are incredibly important to our wellbeing, and one group in our community is working hard to bring local mums together to share friendship and support. Wynnum-born initiative Social Mums Club has more than 21,000 members who meet regularly to build bonds that strengthen our community.
Social Mums Club’s founder, Kirsty Foster, says the club gives mums a “sense of belonging”, and with Mother’s Day taking centre stage this month, Social Mums is running 10 fabulous events for mums as part of its Mother’s Day May campaign.
May also marks The Community Leader’s 60th edition! That’s five years of bringing the community good news. Thank you to all our contributors and advertisers who help make the publication a true reflection of our incredible bayside community. And thanks to the 80-plus contingent of walkers who home-deliver The Community Leader – you’re amazing! A copy of every issue is deposited in the National Library of Australia, so a snapshot of the bayside is there for future generations to see.
