When SAILS at Bayside received grant funding last year, the local not-for-profit got a welcome boost to help cover the cost of events and volunteer training that’s connecting at risk youth and disadvantaged community members with opportunity.
“It’s the first time a lot of the young people we work with have been on the water, so it’s a really joyful and freeing experience for them,” said SAILS at Bayside president Ian Carr.
“We’re building confidence in young people and helping them to learn important life skills.”
Brisbane’s bayside is full of local legends like SAILS at Bayside, working to make a difference in the community through projects and initiatives across education, community, environment, youth development, wellbeing, arts and culture.
But with cost-of-living biting and resources stretched, sometimes a little extra assistance can go a long way.
That’s where Port of Brisbane’s Community Relations Manager, Ed Harwood, hopes the Port can help.
“We know many local organisations would welcome a funding boost so we’re keen to get the message out that applications for our 2026/27 Community Grant Program have now opened,” said Mr Harwood.
“Since 2013, we’ve proudly shared more than $1.3 million with community organisations through our grant program from the Bayside to southern Queensland.
“This year, we have another $100,000 available, with individual organisations able to apply for up to $15,000. Imagine what $15,000 could do for your charity, and the important work you’re doing in the bayside.”
Eligible organisations can apply for grant funding until 30 April 2026.
