Lota Skatepark will be buzzing on April 8 as the Bay Wave Youth Festival returns, transforming the space into a lively hub of creativity and fun. Hosted by BABI Youth and Family Service for over 15 years, Bay Wave has become a cornerstone event for young people in the bayside.

Funded by Brisbane City Council, the festival reflects the Council’s ongoing commitment to youth initiatives, including its support for BABI’s LINX space – a place for young people aged 12 to 25 to chill out, participate in activities and workshops, and get information about support services.

Bay Wave is all about offering a safe, inclusive environment where young people can celebrate their culture and enjoy a range of free activities.

Visitors can look forward to a free sausage sizzle, community stalls, sports activations, and live music from talented local performers. The skatepark setting adds to the festival’s unique atmosphere, with skate culture woven throughout the day.

MADE Concepts will once again deliver its popular basketball activation, featuring energetic 3×3 games and shoot-to-win challenges that welcome players of all abilities. Their experience in youth engagement and sport-led programming ensures a fun, fast-paced experience for everyone.

BABI has been supporting young people and families across the bayside region since 1983, particularly those facing hardship or homelessness. Bay Wave continues this legacy by creating a positive space for young people to connect, participate, and feel supported.

Join the celebration on April 8 at Lota Skatepark from 11:00am to 4:00pm.
