FROM REDLANDS CAMERA CLUB
Redlands Camera Club members took to the water to photograph the annual Lady Skippers’ yacht race hosted by the Wynnum Manly Yacht Club on Sunday, 26th June.
The day dawned a spectacular sunny winter morning, but unfortunately, there was little wind. This did not stop 21 enthusiastic lady skippers and their crew (many with all, or mostly, women) from starting.
While encouraging women to sail, the event also raises money for cancer research. Pink was the dominant colour on the water and at the clubhouse.
Line honours and first on handicap was Mostly Harmless, skippered by Angie Hadwen.
The best-dressed boat and best placed adjusted for the highest percentage of female crew was won by Black Dog skippered by Lynley Vinton.
In the light weather, it was a very challenging and frustrating day for the skippers. However, all agreed it was a great day on the water.
