The Chatsworth–Carindale Probus Men’s Chorale began in April 2025, bringing together members who enjoy singing, friendship, and community. With 2026 marking the 50th anniversary of Probus in Australia, the Chorale is a wonderful example of the Probus spirit in action.

After several months of rehearsals, the Chorale made its first public appearance at our Christmas in July luncheon, where their performance was met with enthusiastic applause. This success was followed by another much-enjoyed performance at our Annual Christmas luncheon in December, firmly establishing the Chorale as a highlight of club celebrations.

In addition to performing at club meetings and events, the Chorale has proudly taken its music into the wider community. Performances at the Mt Gravatt Respite Centre and Wishart Christian Retirement Village brought joy and connection to residents and audiences alike, while also raising awareness of Probus and the friendship, fellowship, and opportunities it offers.

The benefits of singing extend well beyond the audience. For Chorale members, rehearsals and performances support wellbeing, boost confidence, strengthen friendships, and provide a real sense of achievement.

Chorale member Phil Egan shared what the group has meant to him: “All my life I wanted to do something related to music but never found the time. With no previous experience in singing, Probus has given me the opportunity to fulfil a lifelong ambition. At age 74, I have found being a member of a choir very rewarding, sharing with a great bunch of people. Life is what you make of it.”

The Chatsworth–Carindale Probus Men’s Chorale is proof that trying something new can create lasting connections, enrich lives, and celebrate 50 years of Probus in perfect harmony.
