Here in Alexandra Hills, we have our depot for Rotary Australia Repurposing Equipment Northern Region (RARE), a section of Rotary Australia World Community Services (RAWCS). On Thursday and Saturday mornings, volunteers sort and pack donated medical and educational equipment that is no longer of use here, but is very welcome in many areas of the world.

Recently, containers of goods have been sent to Papua New Guinea, Manus Island, Vanuatu, Solomon Islands, Fiji, the Republic of Congo, and Uganda, filled with requested items. Once a month, we call upon Rotarians from several Brisbane clubs to come and assist, and recently, they answered the call with 16 volunteers from Cleveland out of a total of 60 volunteers, made up of Rotarians and friends. It’s a wonderful way to help others in the world who do not have the privileges that we in Australia take for granted.
