FROM JEAN CLARKE, REDLANDS VIEW CLUB

Are you new to the area and hoping to make friends? Recently retired and keen to explore new interests? Or maybe you’re simply looking to connect with others and enjoy some social activities? Whatever the reason, a VIEW Club could be just what you’re looking for.

Redlands VIEW is always seeking new members and looking to promote the wonderful work that members do to support the education of disadvantaged children.

VIEW is 65 years old this year, was established in 1960, and is a national women’s organisation. VIEW currently has 13,000 members in clubs around Australia. VIEW stands for Voice, Interests and Education of Women, and it empowers women to make a positive difference to the lives of Australian children and young people experiencing disadvantage.

George Forbes started VIEW as a means of supporting women who were at home raising children in an era when women did not work. It provided friendship in neighbourhoods, which grew and eventually established into clubs, first in New South Wales, ACT, and then Queensland, closely followed by other States and the Northern Territory.

Redlands VIEW Club currently supports 10 disadvantaged students on the Learning for Life Program in partnership with The Smith Family.

The club meets on the fourth Tuesday of the month for a lunch meeting at 10:30am for an 11:00am start at Fiction Bar, Raby Bay, with a guest speaker presenting an interesting topic.

In between meetings, we enjoy a social activity each month – a coffee morning or a bus trip, and we fundraise to support the students through street stalls, special fundraising events and monthly raffles.

If you would like to join us for a lunch meeting, please contact Jean Clarke on 0409 268 646 or email [email protected].
