CONTRIBUTED BY BRISBANE COAST GUARD
Each year Coast Guard Brisbane assists over 400 boats, with over 1000 people on board, back to the safety of dry land. We couldn’t provide this marine safety service without the generous support of businesses, other community groups and government MPs who chip in to provide grants and donations.
“Our boats are refitted periodically to extend their life on the water, and to upgrade their electronics,” explained skipper Kerri Williams, adding “we are so grateful for financial support and discounted services from a number of local businesses”.
Companies that have helped Coast Guard recently include Montessori Tingalpa, Quality Marine Electronics, Lightforce, Furuno, Adam Dodson Diving Services and Bunnings
Manly West.
The flotilla is also supported by all levels of government. Over the last year federal member Ross Vasta MP, state member Joan Pease MP, Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner and local councillor Peter Cumming have made donations, met with volunteers, or inspected our boats and facilities.
“We also receive donations from community groups and members of the public,” Kerri said.
“Many people donate a gold coin or two in our charity boxes, and you can nominate the money from your Containers for Change bottles for us as well.”
If your business is looking for opportunities to support local community service groups, we’d love to hear from you!
