University of the Third Age (U3A) Redlands is part of an international organisation that provides opportunities for people who are no longer working full-time to come together to learn, volunteer, continue their interests, and take up new pursuits. There are no exams or homework, just regular classes. It’s learning for fun, for a new skill, or just for social connection.
There are no age limits. U3A is designed for people who no longer work full-time – retired or semi-retired. U3A Redlands aims to be as accessible as possible – classes are held in various locations throughout the Redlands in community halls, churches and libraries.
There is a wide range of courses including Languages, Theatre Performance, Dance, Music, Cards, Mahjong, Writing, Book Clubs, Physical Activities, Meditation, Computing, Travel, Art and Craft, Wine Appreciation, Dining Out and Lecture Series. Each class group has its own volunteer leader or coordinator who has a particular interest or expertise in the subject.
Each January, U3A Redlands holds an Open Day so people can meet tutors and coordinators and learn about the classes on offer. On January 16, 2026, from 9:00am to 11:30am, an Open Day will be held at the Birkdale Sports Club at Judy Holt Park, Holt Lane, Birkdale.
The big news is that we have almost completed the project of building our very own U3A Redlands Centre on land at the Redlands Research Facility in Delancey Street, Cleveland. This will be our office, our social hub and the venue for some classes.
