Bay Wave Festival’s return to Lota Skatepark on April 8 is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated youth events on Brisbane’s bayside, blending grassroots creativity with next-gen energy.

What began as a small community gathering more than a decade ago has grown into a showcase for young musicians, artists, and performers who see the bay not just as a backdrop, but as part of the story they want to tell.

Local bands will share the stage with emerging Brisbane acts, while young creatives unveil their talents via stalls and performances. A free sausage sizzle will be firing, making it impossible to wander past without grabbing something hot and delicious straight off the barbie!

Since the start, Bay Wave’s vibe has been shaped by young people. Organisers say the 2026 edition is the most youth-driven yet, with young creators shaping everything from the lineup to the visual identity. It’s a festival made for young people, but more importantly, it has major input from them.

A festival favourite is the 3×3 basketball activation, a fast-paced game that’s as fun to watch as it is to play, featuring three players per team.
