FROM THE REDLANDS ORCHID SOCIETY INC.
For over half a century, the Redlands Orchid Society Inc. has brought together orchid enthusiasts of all levels. With a legacy spanning more than 50 years, this society continues to thrive, thanks to the dedication of its members, including one of its original founding members who remains active to this day.
The society’s diverse and engaging activities offer something for everyone interested in orchids. Throughout the year, members can look forward to two charity shows, two festive Christmas parties, and 12 Orchid Morning Teas – events that are as educational as they are enjoyable. Monthly meetings, held on the third Tuesday of each month, kick off with a beginner’s class, making it easy for newcomers to get involved and start their journey into the fascinating world of orchids. The society also maintains an active presence on Facebook, and you can connect with them at redlandsorchidsociety.org/.
This year, the Redlands Orchid Society is excited to invite the community to its much-anticipated Charity Orchid Show on Saturday, October 12, 2024, from 8:30am to 3:00pm. Held at the Birkdale Sports Club in Judy Holt Park, this event promises a great day out for seasoned orchid growers and curious newcomers.
Attendees can explore a stunning array of orchids on display, each one a testament to the artistry and patience of its grower. Orchid plants will be available for sale, along with a selection of potting accessories. For those looking to hone their green thumb, potting demonstrations will be held throughout the day, offering valuable tips and tricks from experienced growers.
One of the event highlights will be the opportunity to engage with knowledgeable orchid growers who will be on hand to answer any questions you might have, whether you’re looking to start your own collection or seeking advice on caring for your existing plants.
In addition to the floral displays and expert advice, the event will feature refreshments, raffle prizes, and various items for sale by the Redland Hospital Auxiliary, with all proceeds going to support their important work.
