Wynnum local Tori Castner has been selected as a state finalist for Miss Universe Australia 2022.
After losing her mother in early February to breast cancer, it has been Tori’s mission to spread awareness of the disease and raise funds by using the Miss Universe platform to share her own family’s journey.
“I have witnessed how detrimental this disease can be, and feel for not only the patients but also their families, and I want to be a voice for the community for a disease that so many of us have been affected by,” said Tori.
Throughout this campaign Tori is working with the wonderful charity ToyBox Australia, which is partnered with Camp Quality, a charity that helps to put smiles on the faces of Australian children suffering from cancer.
When serious illness becomes part of their lives, children need the opportunity to get away from the pain, treatment and challenges they are facing and just be a child. By supporting Camp Quality and the camps they run nationally, you are helping deliver fun, distraction and creating positive memories for these children and their families.
Tori is very excited to be competing in the state finals in May and is hoping to raise over $3000 for a cause that is very close to her heart.
