FROM THE WYNNUM MANLY & DISTRICTS MEN’S SHED
Earlier this year, the Wynnum Manly & Districts Men’s Shed Inc. celebrated its 11th birthday with a morning tea at the shed. Approximately 150 people attended the celebration where good food and a great time was had by all.
Our shed has recently changed its constitution to have honorary members admitted. Our first honorary member, Sister Angela Mary Doyle, was announced at our morning tea. Sister Angela Mary has visited our shed and generously taken us to her heart. She has also done so much for the community in Queensland, and at 96.9-years-young, she is an inspiration to all who meet her.
Sister Angela Mary could not attend our birthday celebration as she contracted Covid. She has since recovered and has told us she will visit the shed soon for a cup of tea and a sausage sizzle.
Our shed is non-political, non-religious, and a no-alcohol shed, and now we have a 96.9-year-old nun as an honorary member! We think Sister Angela Mary is the first nun to become a member of any Men’s Shed in Australia, and we are proud to have her. As she could not be with us on our birthday, after she recovered, we paid her a visit to present her with a special sculpture gift that Manie Conradie had made and to give her the honorary membership certificate and chocolates.
