The Wynnum Manly and District Men’s Shed is proudly assisting in promoting World Mental Health Day by hosting a Big Breakfast on Friday, 10 October.

The Men’s Shed aims to raise awareness of the growing divergence of mental health issues affecting all age groups, as well as the avenues of assistance available in the community, through health and allied health organisations.

The Men’s Shed has a simple model for success, which has now made Men’s Sheds synonymous with men’s mental health.

By incorporating the best ideas from other successful, established community groups, such as Rotary, Scouts, and Woodturners, the Men’s Shed has developed a strong model that offers our members a wonderful opportunity to engage in new and exciting skills and exercise their long-neglected creative talents.

Firstly, we aim to get members out of the house and away to the Men’s Shed where they can reunite with their tribe. Secondly, we offer creative opportunities with a variety of modern equipment and technology to connect like-minded members, allowing them to find new soulmates. And thirdly, reconnect with others via outside activities such as sausage sizzles, garage sales, community projects, and bus and train trips.

A new chapter is opened in the lives of those who thought their time had passed them by, and their renewed enthusiasm allows them to view their lives through more positive eyes.

The Men’s Shed Big Breakfast will be held on Friday, 10 October, from 8:00am to 12:00pm at 59 Granada Street, Wynnum North.
