Wynnum Manly friends Sharon and Allana love a good op shop bargain. Their wardrobes are packed with pre-loved clothing and shoes, and they decided to share the love.
In early 2025, they created the Facebook group Opportunities by the Bay to share images of their purchases, encourage others to op shop and remind their followers of the sustainability benefits of buying second-hand. The reaction from others has been excellent, and in March, they hosted the first of their op shop tours, with 15 women spending the day exploring the second-hand shops in Wynnum CBD. While planning future tours, possibly in other locations, the friends are partnering with Wynnum’s Do-Op shop to present a fashion parade of second-hand clothing at the Wynnum Fringe Festival.
