FROM REDLANDS UNITED FOOTBALL CLUB
Redlands United is pleased to announce its Football Queensland Academy Coaches for the boys’ teams for 2024.
Under 10 – Marc Bomhof (C License)
Marc will continue coaching this group after an outstanding season in 2023. Continuity is a big factor for these players as they progress into fully fledged 9 v 9 FQ Academy football. Marc’s enthusiasm and passion for youth development are there for all to see. Marc has delivered some quality sessions in 2023, and we are keen to help him on his coaching journey in 2024, which we know will provide a great environment for our Under 10s.
Under 11 – Nik Bruce (C License)
Redlands United FC is delighted that Nik has agreed to do another year with this group. Nik is an excellent coach with a vast knowledge of developing young players. He runs a “tight ship”, ensuring all aspects of the team are organised and effective for training and matches. Our Under 11s are in safe hands in 2024.
Under 12 – Peter Merefield (B License) Emilie Rochelet (B License)
Peter and Emilie will co-coach the Under 12 FQA team in 2024. Peter has been a valued coach within the Redlands football community for over a decade. Emilie has been at Redlands United for four years in various roles. Emilie played for Olympique Lyonnais in France and Redlands United in the NPLW. Her coaching resumé from Australia and overseas includes managing and coordinating Junior Development Programs. We are excited that our Under 12 team will get to tap into their vast experiences. Having two experienced coaches will only benefit this group’s development.
Under 13 – Sam Langley
Club captain Sam Langley continues to give back. As a proud Redlands junior who made it through the pathway, we see no better individual to guide our Under 13 team in an important year as they transition to 11-a-side football on a full field. Sam has been assisting Pete Merefield in 2023, so he has learnt from a wonderfully experienced mentor.
Under 14 – Brett Godden, assisted by Finn Quigley
Brett continues to deliver a high-quality coaching environment for young players at Redlands. The club is thrilled that he has agreed to coach the boys again in 2024. Assisted by youth team player Finn Quigley, Brett has done an excellent job this season.
Under 15 – James Piercy (C License)
James has been with Redlands for a number of seasons now as a valued team player and, lately, a coach. In 2023, James did a wonderful job guiding the Under 11 team to a successful season. James is also a teacher at Cleveland SHS in the football program. Moving up to the 11-a-side game is a natural progression for him as a coach and will also allow our Under 15 group to experience some new ideas and concepts.
Under 16 – Tony Eagleton (C License)
Tony returns to Redlands after a successful season coaching Holland Park’s Under 15s. Tony is a respected coach who always puts his players first, dedicating hours to individual and team development. The club is excited to welcome Tony back to guide the Under 16s after the boys enjoyed a very successful back half of last season under the guidance of Kris De Graaf.
Under 18 – John Reid (A License), Peter Dunlop (B License)
John’s wealth of football experience is second to none in Queensland and will again prove invaluable for the club’s young players. It is logical for John to move up from the 16s to 18s as he knows many players and will drive standards and culture in this age group, which is always needed. We are looking forward to watching the duo of Reidy and Pete guide our Under 18 side next season. Peter has worked diligently at Redlands for the last two years and is a valued member of the coaching team. Working closely with his friend and mentor, Peter will benefit greatly from John’s experience to assist his knowledge of the game. We know that with these experienced coaches, the next group of young players looking to make the jump into NPL football at Redlands will be given highly effective coaching.
