Local charity Richie’s Rainbow is gearing up for its annual fundraising walk on Sunday, March 29, beginning at Lota Reserve Park, and you’re invited to join the procession.

It’s all in aid of children’s cancer research, and the charity’s efforts to make the cancer journeys of Queensland families a little brighter. Richie’s Rainbow Foundation supports children undergoing cancer treatment by providing iPads to lift their spirits. Funds are also directed to childhood cancer research, with a strong focus on supporting those treated at the Queensland Children’s Hospital.

The walk, now in its fifth year, began in memory of Richie Walsh, who sadly lost his battle with a rare cancer in 2021, aged nine.

While the walk is a fundraiser, it’s also a celebration of Richie’s life and legacy; a day to honour children currently fighting cancer and to remember those we have lost, and stand in solidarity with families navigating the unimaginable.

Organisers say the continued growth of the walk reflects the generosity and spirit of the local community, whose support has helped Richie’s Rainbow reach more families each year.

With entertainment, family-friendly activities, and strong local business involvement, this year’s walk consolidates the enduring impact of one little boy’s legacy.

Everyone is welcome and encouraged to take part, walk in honour of someone special, and help ensure that no family faces childhood cancer alone. Follow this link to make a donation or to register for the walk: https://richiesrainbow.org.au/shop/ols/categories/bayside-walk-2026.
