Rotary Australia Repurposing Equipment is a volunteer-based recycling facility that collects and redistributes goods, principally donated by companies, hospitals and educational institutions. The Northern Region of RARE in Australia is based in the Redlands, at Alexandra Hills.
For example, in February this year, RARE took delivery of more than 300 chairs from St Joseph’s Gregory Terrace. Another example is Noosa District State High School. Through the efforts of a student, Oscar Betterridge, from the school’s Interact Club, the school rallied and supplied 1200 textbooks. Oscar and his father personally delivered them to the RARE facility.
After its 2025 May Bookfest, Capalaba Rotary Club had six boxes of good-quality children’s books left over. We were able to box them and deliver them to RARE’s depot at Alexandra Hills.
As a local club, we are fortunate to have the RARE warehouse on our doorstep, and we continue to support the diverse projects of this clever and practical Rotary initiative.
